Media Blackout Ended
Ok i’m back from the depths of working on stuff to show Crytek in the meeting i had with them last week Wednesday.
Also had a few days to recover and get back some normal sleeping patterns.
The interview with Crytek went really well and things are looking promising, i should be hearing back from them hopefully some time next week.
In the mean time i’ll revive this blog which had sort of been set aside in the interest of focusing on getting a job
So to kick things off here is the stuff i did to show Crytek.

A simple look at texturing, more for my benefit really, also testing out the normal map generation from within ZB.
A sort of environment set, jungle cliff wall with vines and an old secret bunker door.
I’m really hapy with this one, a stone pillar thingy, which would go on the facade of a building. (so that smooth block is a sort of place holder for a facade and not indicative of the actual pillar.
and finally the mutant guy, with no new work done, just a new shader that helps bring out some of its better parts. I’m unsatisfied with this model and will start it over and really push the pose and design. But it was good as a learning/practice session.

Hey boy – you know I’ve already squealed all this in excited tones at you over skype, but I wanted it recorded in the blog for POSTERITY. I’m so impressed. All of this stuff is just such a high standard. When I looked at the jungle environment for the first time, I was blown away by how professional it looked – damn, you learn fast. It was only a few months ago that you even started USING z-brush! The column could look real if painted properly. And arm guy… okay, I know you’re not that into arm guy yourself. But from an outside perspective, WHOA!!! I can pick out so many details I missed now you’ve got it all shinied up in red: stuff like the calloused beading on the bottom of the flesh lump (eughh) the engorged capillaries running up his shoulders and onto his back… he is truly disgusting. And you are awesome at modelling. So proud of you darlin’

Let me add my praise for the column thingy and the concrete bollards. They just look photo real. Well done! Not surprised that Crytek want to employ you.
I hope that you get a chance to enjoy some down time and get out and do stuff in this period between jobs. Even if it is just getting out and talking a walk in the woods (don’t get lost!).

Shit man. Crytek is a pretty serious studio. Can’t wait to hear what they say! Good-looking mutant too.
